Study a Trading Example Without Hindsight
Preserve what was observable before looking at a final explanation or outcome.
Freeze the observation point
A historical chart can make an educator's interpretation seem obvious after the later path is visible. Before examining the conclusion, record the time boundary, available data and the task you are attempting. Separate a pattern description from an entry instruction. The learning exercise does not need to turn every chart into a trade.
If the source example omits its original timing or inputs, record that limitation. Do not supply missing information from the later price path. A current chart can be useful for illustration while failing to reconstruct what was known at the earlier decision point.
Retain alternatives and errors
Write an initial interpretation and at least one unresolved alternative. State what additional observation would distinguish them. Compare with the source explanation only afterward. When your answer differs, identify whether the problem concerned a definition, missing information or a changed rule.
A corrected annotation should not erase the first one. Keep both and test a fresh example using the same criterion. Repeatedly redrawing the same successful chart can improve familiarity without establishing transfer. Use failed or ambiguous examples where legitimately available rather than selecting only attractive patterns.
Do not claim a strategy-validation sample
A replay exercise teaches observation and reasoning. It is not an independent test of market profitability, and its software checks are not strategy-validation evidence. Hypothetical price references and actual broker executions remain distinct.
The trader study notes on this site provide source pointers and editorial assignments rather than claiming to reproduce private systems. A reader should finish with a clearer evidence question, not a fabricated backtest or a promise that the famous trader's outcomes can be copied.
